Fixing the Annoying Windows 11 File Explorer Glitch

This post explains how to fix the Windows 11 File Explorer glitch by switching to windowed mode, allowing access to the "See more" menu until a permanent fix is released.

If you've recently upgraded to Windows 11 version 24H2 for your business, you may have encountered an irritating glitch in File Explorer.

File Explorer—the trusty tool you use to browse files and folders—usually operates smoothly. However, after the latest update, some users are facing issues with the “See more” menu, which can be a real productivity killer.

Typically, this menu (represented by three dots) appears right below your mouse cursor, offering options like “Select All” or “View Properties.” But due to a bug, the “See more” menu is suddenly flying to the top of the screen, often disappearing off your view entirely. And if you're using File Explorer in full-screen mode, some options might be completely hidden.

Frustrating, right?

The good news is, there’s a quick fix to get things back on track. Simply switch File Explorer to windowed mode by clicking the square icon in the top-right corner of the window (next to the "X" button). This will allow you to resize the window and keep the “See more” menu within view—even if it’s still misbehaving.

And don’t worry—Microsoft is aware of the issue and working on a permanent fix.

In the meantime, these little glitches can definitely slow down your workflow. If you need help keeping your applications running smoothly and boosting productivity, reach out to us. We're here to help!
